I will tell you a tale  both truth, and myth, of mysterys hidden from the eyes of man, though spoken by beast in the glimmer of the dusks and dawn. 

Of beasts, you wonder. they speak not to man, save some foolish birds who have not learned of age.  Yet, all beast have voice, hidden , silent, least they be asked of the greatest of mysterys,  They whisper among themselves you see, and are heard only as the sound of the wind and the rain to the foolish. 

What may you wonder would the animals of the forest speak of besides where the sweetest grass meadows may be or the clear cool waters that tumble down from the hillside? They speak of those who once lay hidden in the brush, those the eyes of men did not accept to see- the unicorns, the great beasts that cause thunder to happen, and of course, the wisest of all creatures the dragons. 

It came to pass upon the world that the expansion of man became a terrible thing, that the lands used by the creatures to hunt  was over shadowed and the space between the dominion of man and beast was  coming closer to clashing- one could not survive with the other-  

Stories were told of the mythical beasts by the old ones, how they helped to balance the seasons and that which grew upon the land  and the weather- few mortals were concerned that what they would do would harm anything- but they were inclined to not care , or believe.   

 The animals gathered at dusk to whisper among themselves.  They were afraid of Man. He tore from their number with out cause and destroyed thier homes. Some animals were inclined to rip the hearts of men from their chests and devour them. Others, wished to just run, and keep running.  In this gathering the wisest of the animals , the dagons, slowly exhaled rings of perfumed smoke in the air, listening. They were few in number, old  and long of membory that they could count the number of their kind slain by man.

They knew the world, was a place of balance,  if there was not room in the world, for them, the time of man would come to an end as well.

The dragons knew the lesser creatures part in the world was to feed those who were greater.  Yet, they knew as well, the largest of the creatures, the smartest and the wise place was to protect those who were helpless. They knew , a war against Man would only diminish the numbers of their own. 

The greatest of the dragons sighed.  it knew, of only one way to save those who needed to remain hidden in the world, yet, there would be a sacrifice. 

It knew that if there were fewer animals, then there would be more food for the ones left behind, and perhaps in time the follys and wars of man would diminish his numbers as well.   Gathering up all of those who wished to stay hidden, and safe in its great wings it flew upward to the heavens and placed them among the stars to watch over their brethern.  

Those that remain have managed to survive in their own way, knowing, waiting, for the time that the follys of man would bring an end to that which had no reason, and hearald the return of that which lives only in the memory of the old and wise.

The animals of the world speak this in whispers, If you are very wise, or old, you may perhaps hear them if you listen with your heart in the early dusk of a summers day.
