As I was walking down the shore one day<br>
in a place just by the sea,<br>
I happened upon a shining scale<br>
of crystal, blue and green.<br>

So smooth the colors of fairest day<br>
upon this tiny tale,<br>
It seemed to whisper "Time will tell"<br>
through its hidden, wonderous veil.<br>

I walked some more, found more than two<br>
of crystal, red and blue.<br>
Walked on again, bend down to see<br>
through eyes of a long, scaled friend.<br>

It looked at me with soft eyes of blue<br>
points of green danced within.<br>
"Who are you?" it asked with gentle sigh<br>
"I'm just wandering past, my friend."<br>

"You don't have scales nor wings so thin<br>
nor gems of brown or gold.<br>
Who are you, stranger, to come so near?<br> 
Do you seek the Siren foretold?"<br>

I sat nearby, not touching this thing<br>
of crystal, blue and green.<br>
Yet in my mind, small visions passed<br>
of what might be or bring.<br>

"I seek not of wealth nor treasures untold<br>
nor bounties that I know exist.<br>
I seek of one thing that a heart can hold of Love that drifts in the mist."<br>

"Do you seek of pearls, of diamonds round<br>
of gems deep emerald green?<br>
Do you seek the blood of the fairest gem?"<br>
"Nay, I seek finer things."<br>

It looked at me once, twice, then, I think, <br>
through pools of crystal green.<br>
Sighing once, then twice again, <br>
"Come with me, listen while we sing."<br>

I traveled along with the fair scaled friend<br>
to deepest passes below,<br>
and from the depths of deep, dark cracks<br>
tis Siren's song did flow.<br>

Entrancing sounds of crystal waves <br>
did the song I heard come forth.<br>
"Be blessed, dear one, with sounds that sing<br>
we all know of your kindly worth."<br>

I looked around for the one I saw,<br>
then gazed through wide open eyes.<br>
Tis the one I saw on the shore,<br>
tis the one I saw before.<br>

"It is I, the Siren who called,<br>
the one of crystal, blue and green."<br>
She handed me a small, white scale,<br>
"To the one who brought finer things."<br>

We danced upon waves through caps so white<br>
My beautiful Siren and me.<br>
Ne'er again to be lonely no more,<br>
My love, you *are* the finer things.<br>
