Thirteenth Sin Chapter 8

Chapter Eight: PT-78
Today was hotter than the rest. Somehow, Angel managed to stay cool. For a Siberian husky, she wasn’t over heating at all. Mike, Isis, and I on the other hand were sweating like we had an excess of water. It had been over a month since I last saw civilization. We were running low on food but managed to still leave the granola bars untouched. I wondered how worried our parents were or siblings in my case. The sun seemed to beat down on us with more and more intensity as we continued. Finally, we saw it. A gleam on the horizon. The mirrors. We began to sprint towards them but we all tripped over something and fell face first into the sand. A shadow loomed over us yet there was no one there when we looked up. The mirrors weren’t there anymore. Than, somehow the mirrors began to reappear as if something was obscuring their sight from us. There was still a shadow of a person next to us and we were all creeped out. It began to move and from nowhere a kunai began to float in the air. I saw it fly towards my head in the sand and jumped up immediately.
“Who’s there?†I demanded. “Show yourself.â€
“Are you talkin’ ‘bout lil’ ol’ me?†A voice seemed to come from the shadow. “Why, I’m right next to you. Don’t ya see? Maybe it’s my outfit.â€
A black dome appeared from nowhere and when it disappeared, Blaster Platinum was standing in her casual dress.
“Hee! Hee! Now you see me! Oh! I almost forgot to introduce myself! Name’s Blaster Platinum but I prefer Cheryl. Y’all must be Zin, Isis, Mike and umm… Angel! Nice to meet y’all! Well you trying to get in our world, right? Well y’all gotta battle me first. If ya win, y’all can go on though. If ya lose… well… you won’t be goin’ nowhere no more! Hehe! How about y’all make the first move? I wanna battle…†She scanned us and decided. “Mike.â€
I looked over to Mike with a worried face. I was still unsure of his power. I could only watch. Isis had frozen up and Angel was watching seriously as if observing. Mike walked up about a good two yards away from “Cheryl.†He had a serious aura about him. This was a first for me; seeing him like this. Mike was a very thin, bony kid. He wore usually black shirts and dark blue jeans. His grey hair was spiky with very long spikes in the front.
“I was hoping you didn’t call me but oh well. It’s your funeralâ€, Mike said. He grinned evilly.
“You seem pretty confident, hun. Let’s see you reap those words.†Platinum began to dash forward. Mike did the same. She threw a punch and he grabbed onto her fist. Her eyes widened. With no effort, he threw her behind him and she made a light thud on the sand. He slowly turned towards her and shuriken materialized into his hand. He threw them but she moved out of the way so fast that it looked like she teleported. She was immediately behind him with a kunai to his neck. He smiled and elbowed her in the stomach. He began to form a large energy ball and than shoved it into his chest. Mike’s eyes grew a pupil less white as a large, white flame surrounded him. He moved at the enemy with intense speed and thrust his palm into her face, sending her many feet back. Before Platinum got up, mike threw her into the air and kicked her down. Before she landed, he was there to kick her up again. He continued this until the ground below became a bit moist. He waited for her to get up this time and she was bleeding from her mouth. She coughed up some blood and Mike continued to stand there. She reached into her thigh pouch and out flew four kunai. They all hit him in a limb, immobilizing him. Mike seemed not to mind this.
“What’s the matter with you? You seem to care so little about being pinned down like thatâ€, She said. Mike just smiled as the kunai disintegrated from their positions. Once again, he rushed forward only this time with a small knife in his hand. He sliced her face and blood sprayed from it. However, it was only a small scar that he had spread up the skin. She was really pissed now and drew out her machete. She moved once and she was already in position to slice at Mike. She proceeded and Mike flew back, trailing blood across the sand. She rushed over to him before he even stopped flying backwards and stabbed at him. Lucky for him, he dodged a direct blow to the heart while sacrificing his left arm at the same time. He made it look like he didn’t feel the pain. Blood was pouring out of his limb. He seemed to only care about killing. Mike was never this way before. Before he could retaliate, a shuriken flew over and dug into his right pectoral. He moved his right foot back as a hit absorber but was pushed upwards as Platinum ran over and sliced him from the stomach, up. With that, he thrashed a bit, now starting to feel some pain. Isis was curled into a ball. She couldn’t watch as her friend was getting killed. I wasn’t watching him get killed either. I was watching him fight and believed in him. Blaster Platinum was going all out, relentlessly slicing him and doing anything she could to try and kill him. Nothing was prevailing. Mike seemed invincible. Yet… he wasn’t fighting back. He just stood there, taking hit after hit and barely feeling it. He must have lost mass amounts of blood by now. Something else caught my eye. Something dreadful. Far off to my right, I saw a large cloud of sand rushing toward us. I wanted to scream but couldn’t. My mouth was too dry. I wanted to help but was unable. There was nothing I could do. Not about the storm, not about Mike. He was getting his ass kicked and we were all about to get lost in a sandstorm. Things looked pretty damned well here… Than something happened. Platinum sliced straight up his body again and Mike flew back, although he landed on his feet. Symbols made from the cuts on his body began to radiate a golden color. His eyes turned the same golden color and everything surrounding us turned into a sort of orange twilight. We weren’t standing on anything, just floating as Mike began to illuminate. Out of nowhere, Blaster Platinum flew back near ten yards and Mike was standing where she was just. Into the air, slammed into the ground, left fifty feet, right thirty feet, up again, blood, Platinum began to move and swoosh all over the place and Mike could barely be seen. I was barely able to follow him with my eyes. He drew out one of her kunai and began to own her with that. Blood flying left and right, dropping to an invisible floor. Platinum was now unconscious on the ground. Mike noted this and stopped his fury. He was staring at Platinum’s body with bloodlust and than a small noise came from her ear.
“Withdraw, withdraw! Preparations are complete! Platinum? I’ll send a teleport.â€
With that, the twilight vanished and platinum’s body began to dematerialize into a few glowing blocks and they flew up into the sky. I looked at the storm, some fifty meters away. I opened my mouth to yell run but nothing came out. All I did was point to the mirrors and run. Angel and Isis followed. Mike stood there and I had to drag him. The mirrors were like they weren’t there. We walked literally right through them but into another place. Mike was now in a blank trance. I gave him a weak slap on the face and he almost bit my hand off. We had to rest here, wherever “here†was. I was not sure yet for we were hiding behind some large, metal crates. I was exhausted from the day and could not do anything but lie there. I couldn’t bear anymore of the day and quickly fell asleep on the ground.
I woke up and found myself the only one awake. Even Angel didn’t poke her head up when I woke. Mike seemed to be his regular self now. I had time to lose now being that it was nighttime here and the rest of them wouldn’t wake up for a while. I poked my head over a single stack of crates to gather some info. It looked like a loading dock almost and there were three raptors patrolling the area. I would have to silently kill them if I wanted to scout ahead. There was no easy way about this. I had to start with the most isolated one first, than kill the other two. I began to draw as close to the isolated one as I could while still being behind the crates. I silently got behind it and with a kunai I stole from Mike, stabbed it in the back of the neck. Silently, it fell and I took its gun. I shot the other two with little effort and was than free. I took the gun anyways as a safeguard. I looked about the place. It was a huge warehouse with a maze of crates and ladders. After figuring out the maze, I decided to go back to sleep. A few footsteps came clacking over and I heard them. As I opened my eyes, I saw Blaster Thirteen.
