In almost every race and culture there are myths and legends concerning dragons. As the peoples of the world move into the digital age, so too does their culture. In the online metaverse of Second Life, where imagination rules above all else, the fabled dragons of legend truly live and breathe.

We are fortunate to be alive in these exciting times, where Astral dragons foretell the alignment of the stars and great Fire Drakes breathe searing flame across the land.

The Dragons

Fabled explorer Daryth Kennedy has travelled the mountains, swamps, plains and islands of Second Life cataloguing many new species, breeds and types of dragon, which, though rooted firmly in the historical imagery and lore of the ancient and modern world, represent a new evolution of these mystical creatures. Collated here for the first time in one location are her journal entries and wisdom on these new breeds:

Daryth's journals are faded and worn and peeling at the edges, with some pages missing entirely. Sometimes all that can be deciphered is a scant sentence or single word.

Tiamat is a mysterious dragon, some say a living god among dragon kings, but so little is seen of this splendid dragon that it is hard to say. Only members of the Council of Wyrms can even reach his secluded chambers.

The Wyverns

When Daryth returned to the Isles at last she brought with her tales of strange new creatures that were reptilian in nature and winged like the dragons but yet different too: these new creatures walked on two legs instead of four and possessed an almost feline intelligence and sense of grace. Found in myth and legend they are called Wyverns and are reckoned by many to be some distant cousin of the noble dragon.

Daryth thumbed through her newest journal shaking sands and dried mud from the leaves as drawings and passages of text flashed by under her fingers and thumbs. She paused for a moment and then spun the little book around:

Arctic Wyvern

First Sighting: March 2007
Native Color: Ice blue scales with silvery crystaline protective ridges and azure claws
Breath:

Some jumbled notes surround a quick sketch which is scored through and annotated with a page number, indicating there are better notes elsewhere in her journal.

Desert Wyvern

Native Color: Brown scales with sandy protective ridges and Bone-white claws
Breath:

Shades of sandy brown camouflage the young and adults alike and their speed and feline cunning make the Desert Wyverns formidable hunters.
