Written and as told by Windchaser Rhode

As I was walking down the shore one day
in a place just by the sea,
I happened upon a shining scale
of crystal, blue and green.

So smooth the colors of fairest day
upon this tiny tale,
It seemed to whisper "Time will tell"
through its hidden, wonderous veil.

I walked some more, found more than two
of crystal, red and blue.
Walked on again, bend down to see
through eyes of a long, scaled friend.

It looked at me with soft eyes of blue
points of green danced within.
"Who are you?" it asked with gentle sigh
"I'm just wandering past, my friend."

"You don't have scales nor wings so thin
nor gems of brown or gold.
Who are you, stranger, to come so near?
Do you seek the Siren foretold?"

I sat nearby, not touching this thing
of crystal, blue and green.
Yet in my mind, small visions passed
of what might be or bring.

"I seek not of wealth nor treasures untold
nor bounties that I know exist.
I seek of one thing that a heart can hold of Love that drifts in the mist."

"Do you seek of pearls, of diamonds round
of gems deep emerald green?
Do you seek the blood of the fairest gem?"
"Nay, I seek finer things."

It looked at me once, twice, then, I think,
through pools of crystal green.
Sighing once, then twice again,
"Come with me, listen while we sing."

I traveled along with the fair scaled friend
to deepest passes below,
and from the depths of deep, dark cracks
tis Siren's song did flow.

Entrancing sounds of crystal waves
did the song I heard come forth.
"Be blessed, dear one, with sounds that sing
we all know of your kindly worth."

I looked around for the one I saw,
then gazed through wide open eyes.
Tis the one I saw on the shore,
tis the one I saw before.

"It is I, the Siren who called,
the one of crystal, blue and green."
She handed me a small, white scale,
"To the one who brought finer things."

We danced upon waves through caps so white
My beautiful Siren and me.
Ne'er again to be lonely no more,
My love, you *are* the finer things.
