Giving your Familiar a Name

The easiest and quickest way to rename your familiar is to Detach it, right-click the object in your inventory and Rename it to anything you want. Wear your familiar again and it will show its new name above its head.

To re-color your familiar's name, use the Color menu on your HUD, and select the Name button from the list of parts to change.

To hide your Familiar's name click the Config button, select Familiar options and choose "Name Hide". The name will still be saved and you can turn it back on if you want with "Name Show"

You can also name your familiar while worn with the command /8 name #####

Doing this can only temporarily change your familiars name & it may change back when detached or rezzed.

Customizing your Familiar

The HUD lets you compleatly customize the colors and textures on your familiar. You may select any of the HUD attachment point for the familiars controls. The HUD will self-align and can fold up into it's compact medalion so that it stays conveniently out of the way. To minimize and expand the HUD click the Top button. Wearing the hud is optional but is needed when customizing it's appearence.

The difference between the right and left familiars is how it is curved. You can change their attachment point if they interfere with your avatar's clothing or wings but you will need to reposition them. Experiment, find out what works best for you. Remember, these familiars are mod-okay so if you need to alter it slightly to make it fit better feel free to do so. Just be sure to make backups frequently to save yourself some labor. To save any modfications or edits while wearing it go to "Tools/Save object back to Object Contents". Speaking through your Familiar

You can speak through your familiar by saying anything you want on a specific channel.

The default channel is /9. You can change it to any channel you want by typing the following command: /9 channel ##

(replacing ## with the channel number you want to use).

You can reset the channel anytime using the Familiar Options menu

(optional) Friends and Foes

Found in the Config menu, under (optional) Friends

Friends and Foes control how your familiar reacts when clicked by other people. By default your familiar will not react in any way when clicked.

If someone clicks your Familiar and they're on the Friends list your familiar will purr in response. If someone on your Foes list clicks your familiar they'll be hissed at. If you're using the optional Greets your familiar can also say something nice or mean as well.

To use friends or foes, start by adding someone to your familiars friends or foes list. All of the commands can be found in the "(optional) Friends" menu.

You can turn off Friends or Foes by choosing the "clear friends" and "clear foes" options. Choosing "be neutral" allows you to remove someone from the friends & foes lists.

The default feedback is 0, this controls the private messages your familiar sends to you. Setting the Feedback option to 1 will also privately tell you who clicks on your Familiar. Setting the feedback to -1 will mute all of your familiars responses to menu commands.

Note: your familiar will only respond once when clicked by someone, to prevent someone constantly clicking & spamming you

(optional) Greets

Found in the Config menu, under (optional) Friends

You can choose to have your familiar say something (or emote something with /me) when it's clicked by someone.

The list of available things to say are found in a Notecard inside your familiar, called "Greetings"

You can edit the notecard to add or remove any greets, just keep one greet per line.

Each greet must begin with either "friendly=", "neutral=" or "mean="

Note: Your familiar will only say Neutral greets unless you are also using the optional Friends and Foes lists.
